Meet Luis
Luis has been interested in sports cars and racing since his father took him to watch the Havana Grand Prix in Cuba in 1960. He vividly recalls Sir Stirling Moss taking the checkered flag piloting a white Birdcage Maserati, car #7. Over the ensuing decades, Luis has been actively involved in many sports car clubs, including the Brandywine Motorsports Club (Philadelphia), SCCA (with Competition License), Ferrari Club of America and currently the Porsche Club of America, Finger Lakes Region. Today Luis is a Certified Track Instructor at the level of Mentor Instructor.
Inspired by the sights and sounds of the Havana Grand Prix, Luis wrote his first motorsports article in 1998 describing what he witnessed and enjoys to this day – “the ripping sounds of small bore engines, straining at their redlines, the musical sequence of heel & toe downshifting and the pungent smells of racing oil, brake dust and racing fuels.”
Born and raised in Cuba, Luis has a B.A. in Psychology and M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Delaware. He has authored two career development books, Getting There and Getting There Volume 2 plus many business and motorsports articles for Gannett, Motorsports Marketing Resources, Victory Lane and other publications.
